I have fully immersed myself in social media this week! As a newbie to Twitter and a fairly avid Facebooker I have actually got used to using both formats!
I am running the Creative Learning Facebook page and also their Twitter account to promote their various upcoming workshops but predominantly Footloose!
I have not just spent the time in the office using these formats to promote the show, but nearly every waking moment and even on my ‘days off’. My dedication has however paid off with the Facebook page growing 785% since I took it on. I am extremely proud of this achievement and have set myself the aim of it growing to a 1000% increase but the end of this week.
Alongside this I have helped set up the Chaperone packs ready for the following weeks rehearsal periods and started packing stuff away ready for moving to MK College for the first weeks rehearsal.
So how am I finding it? I am absolutely LOVING it! I had the idea to add character bios daily on the Facebook page to increase the buzz around the show and although it would have been easy to find a quick character bio, I decided to write my own. I used previously knowledge and some research to write these and they are proving to be popular. I have also started posting or re-Tweeting cast videos. These are covers or their own material and it gives a real personal touch to the page and indeed the production. It also gives the cast who are more often than not trying to carve a career in the theatrical world and any exposure is good for them. This is the first year that Stage Experience are opening the doors to behind the scenes of the production so family, friends and even the public can actually see all the hard work that goes into putting on a show of this caliber!
I do have to say on Wednesday I did get a bit excited….Dreamboats and Petticoats touring company were doing a matinee performance at the theatre and over the backstage P.A system I could hear them doing vocal warm-ups! I could then hear the show clearly and even bumped into some cast members when moving around backstage! I must say I got fairly excitable that day!
Tomorrow I am accompanying the two main cast members who play Ren and Ariel to 3 counties radio for an early evening broadcast which should be extremely interesting!
